Rosemaries
(Rosemarinus officinalis) Originally from the Mediterranean area it is now widely cultivated. Colours range from white through pink to pale blue and dark blue. Height varies from 30cm to 2m,so choose your plant carefully. Rosemary is rich in an oil which is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.It is also a symbol of friendship, loyalty and remembrance. Add leaves to soups, meat, fish, and poultry dishes. It likes a sunny well-drained spot and usually sheltered. Some will grow in pots and tubs(do not over water),and some will clip well for a hedge(e.g.Primley blue and Miss Jessop). There are also low and trailing forms (e.g.’creeping’-L.off.Prostratus group,Fota Blue,Severn Sea). Trim back after flowering.
